Welcome! Sometimes visiting a new church can be a bit overwhelming. Here are some pointers to help you feel more at home.
You will see some people in suits and dresses and others in jeans, shorts or other casual attire. In any form, modesty and appropriate attire is appreciated. We are glad you have chosen to worship with us!
All children are welcome to stay and worship with their families. There is a special time during the service for a Children's Message where children are invited to come forward and receive a message just for them. We know that sitting through church with a little one can sometimes be difficult so there is a wiggle room where you can still participate in the service even if your child has the "wiggles". Ask any of the ushers to help guide you to the Wiggle Room.
Sunday School and Bible Classes for children, teens, and adults begin at various times each Sunday morning. Check your bulletin/worship folder for classes and locations or ask an usher.
Communion is celebrated every other Sunday. We want you to feel welcome, loved, and know that we care deeply about you, your salvation, and your spiritual health. We value the opportunity to have a relationship with you in Christ. If you have any questions, doubts, or disagreements with our teaching on communion, we would love to hear from you and have a conversation so together we can explore God’s Word which says, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” (John 6:68)
God’s Word teaches that partaking of the Lord’s Supper in an unworthy manner can result in God’s judgement instead of a blessing. So, we urge those who wish to participate to examine themselves as the Scriptures direct (1 Corinthians 10:14-22, 11:23-34). The Lord’s Supper is celebrated today in the confession and confidence that our Lord gives us not only bread and wine but His very body and blood to eat and to drink for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one another. Our Lord invites to His table those who are baptized, trust His words, repent of all sin, set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us, and desire with God’s help to conform their life to His Word.
Participation in Holy Communion is also a profound proclamation of unity in faith (1 Corinthians 10:15-18; Acts 2:42-47). In sharing Christ’s body and blood at this altar, we indicate our common commitment to the teachings of Christianity as taught in this congregation. Anyone who is not yet instructed in the faith, in doubt of or in disagreement with what our church teaches is welcome to come forward and signal their desire to receive a blessing by crossing their hands over their heart.
